Creating Mini Moments of Joy

When is the last time you took a break? A real break, not just that mandatory ten minute break at work, but the kind of break that is intentional. The kind of break that says, I matter and I am going to do or find something that brings me joy.
This is not to be confused with habits that you may have cultivated that may be more about routine, predictability or coping.
The kind of break I’m talking about is a special kind of self care… it’s not about going to the gym, taking your supplements or journaling when you’re having a hard day (although those things can be great too.)
I’m talking about the kind of break where you intentionally find joy. Whether that is a break at lunch time where you walk in a park, pause to look at a water view, or sit on a park bench in stillness to count your blessings.
In other words, connect with who or what brings you joy.
Most of us have a couple things in common… we all carry a certain amount of stress, many of us work hard at our job or business, and many of us live as though we’re just trying to get through our days and stay afloat with our responsibilities.
But life is short, and if we’re not pursuing small joys in our daily life, we are missing out on a lot that is calming, beautiful and noteworthy.
So, what brings you joy? A certain song, a special place that you have a fond memory of, or perhaps your little one bringing you a flower or a spontaneous hug.
Whatever it may be, see if this week you can stay aware to both notice and create more moments of joy.
In the midst of a lot of stress and uncertainty, we can all benefit by adding more joy and increasing our appreciation for what is good, beautiful and joy filled.
