When I went off to college, after my junior year, I came home to a different mother. Same mother actually, just with some different interests and skills. She had watched a segment of Good Morning America that talked about something called “muscle testing.” And that was the beginning of my family’s long association with Energy Work.  It has covered 3 generations – my mother, my sister and I, and my daughters. When we first started using “muscle testing,” it was pretty much just for checking on what supplements were good for our bodies. The usage has now expanded.

Muscle testing, also known as applied kinesiology, is a technique used in energy work to assess the body's response to certain stimuli, like thoughts, foods, or emotions. It's based on the idea that the body’s muscles can provide feedback on whether something is good (positive) or harmful (negative) to your energy or health.

Here's how it works in simple terms:

  1. Testing Muscle Strength: A person (often called the "client") holds a muscle in a specific position while someone (the "practitioner") applies gentle pressure to test how strong or weak the muscle is.

  2. Positive Response: When the body is in alignment with something beneficial, the muscle will stay strong and resist the pressure.

  3. Negative Response: When the body is exposed to something that is harmful, the muscle becomes weak, meaning it can't resist the pressure as strongly.

Example:

  • Food Testing: If someone is holding a piece of food, a practitioner might test the strength of their arm or hand while applying pressure. If the food is good for them, their arm will stay strong. If the food is not good (like an allergen or something their body doesn’t tolerate), the arm may become weak.

  • Trapped Emotions: A practitioner or even a person just working on themselves can ask the body what emotions need to be released. These emotions can be from childhood, they can even be emotions inherited from ancestors, from any time in life and can even be passed down to our children.

Why it works:

Muscle testing taps into the idea that everything in the universe has an energy field, and the body’s muscles can act as a "switch" that tells us whether something is in harmony or out of balance with our energy system. It’s a way to get feedback from the body without needing words or conscious thought.

In energy work, muscle testing is often used to identify areas of imbalance, stress, or blockages in the body’s energy flow, helping guide treatment or healing.

Live Well Kitsap:  We know that in addition to testing for what is good or not good for your body, Margaret’s methods utilizing the Emotion Code/ Body Code is also able to help many people release trapped emotion ( often from trauma, abuse or neglect) that can make a big difference in your mental and emotional wellbeing.  Contact Margaret today!  www.livewellkitsap.com/mind-your-health.
